A pool fence is the one fence with a legal job to do. Ohio pool-barrier rules set a minimum height, a maximum gap at grade and between members, a non-climbable outside face, and gate hardware that closes and latches on its own.
Get any one of those wrong and the barrier fails inspection — and an inspection failure is the cheap version of what those rules exist to prevent. We build to the requirement and confirm the specifics with your local building department before we start.

The Four Things That Fail a Pool Barrier
Every failed inspection we have seen comes down to one of these.
Height
A barrier has to be at least 4 ft measured from the outside grade. Sloping ground on the outside face is the trap — it can put a 4 ft fence under the minimum at one end.
Gaps
No opening that a small child can pass — at grade, between pickets, and under a gate. This is what rules out most ranch and board styles without infill.
Climbability
Horizontal rails on the OUTSIDE face are a ladder. Aluminum and vinyl pool styles put the rails inside or space them out of reach for exactly this reason.
The gate
Self-closing, self-latching, swinging away from the pool, with the latch mounted out of a child’s reach. A gate propped open is the single most common real-world failure.
