There is no honest per-foot price for a fence, because length is not what moves the number — gates, grade change, corners, tear-out and material do. What follows is how each of those changes the figure, and the project bands we already quote, so you can walk into an estimate knowing roughly where you will land.
The six things that actually move the price
Two 150-foot fences on the same street can differ by thousands. These are the reasons, roughly in order of how much they matter.
Material
The single biggest lever. Chain link is the cheapest per foot and aluminum the most expensive, with wood and Kentucky board in between and vinyl above them.
Gates
A gate costs several times what the same span of fence costs, because it is a frame, hinges, a latch and a post pair rated to carry it. Two double-drive gates can outweigh a whole extra run of fence.
Grade change
A flat rectangular yard is the cheap case. Slope means racked or stepped panels, more posts, and more labour per foot to keep the line true.
Tear-out
Removing an old fence is free with a new install from us, but the condition matters — posts set in concrete take real work to pull compared with a run that lifts out.
Height
Going from 4 ft to 6 ft is more than 50% more material and heavier posts, and it can push you from a by-right height into one that needs a variance.
Access
If a machine can reach the line, posts go in fast. Where a locate mark, a septic field, or a narrow gate means hand-digging, the labour goes up.

Repair or replace?
If the damage is a few boards or panels and the posts are still sound, repair is the cheaper call and buys another five to ten years. Storm damage, a leaning run, and a sagging gate are all repairs.
Once more than about a third of the run is failing — or the posts are rotted at grade, which is what causes leaning in the first place — replacement usually costs less than chasing repairs across three visits. Repair stops making sense at roughly 50–60% of the replacement price.
